Pilotes Volontaires on Euronews

We perform aerial observational operations in the Mediterranean sea, to save the lives of the people who risk everything in a desperate crossing to Europe.

Every year in the Mediterranean, thousands of people lose their lives in total indifference.

These men, women and children have fled difficult, dangerous and inhumane conditions and  want to be able to live in dignity, in safety.

They  leave the North African coast aboard makeshift boats, which are more often than not unfit to make the crossing. These people will ultimately find themselves in mortal danger when their boats break down, and begin to sink in the middle of the sea.

It is extremely difficult to locate these small boats, which can carry hundreds of people, and too often the vessels able to help them arrive too late.

We refuse to accept that these people should face this terrible fate alone and we choose to act to save lives.

This is why we have founded Pilotes Volontaires.
